Why we built Preqonn AI

The problem we set out to fix

Bids are won and lost in preconstruction. Before a single wall goes up, someone has to read the drawings, count every opening, measure every area, price every line, and assemble a package that holds up to scrutiny.

That work still runs on manual takeoff. An estimator opens a 140-sheet plan set, cross-checks the schedules against the spec, and rebuilds the same quantities a competitor is rebuilding down the street. It takes days. Addenda land late and force a redo. A missed opening or a misread schedule turns into a loss that shows up months later on the job.

The tools meant to help mostly digitized the old process. They did not remove the hours.

What Preqonn AI is

Preqonn AI is not another takeoff tool. It is an operator. It reads the documents the way an estimator does, extracts every quantity, flags the conflicts between drawings and specifications, and assembles a bid package. A senior estimator reviews the output before it reaches you.

The promise is simple. The same bid in minutes of AI work plus a short human review, instead of days. Faster, and with a second set of eyes you can trust.

Who built it

Preqonn AI was founded by a small team with deep roots in the industry. Between them, the founders bring more than 30 years across estimating, construction operations, and building software for the trades.

We are not putting names on this page, and that is deliberate. What matters is that the people building Preqonn AI have sat on the estimating side of the table, lived the late nights before a bid is due, and felt what a missed line item costs. The product is built from that experience, not from a whiteboard.

What we believe

A few principles guide every decision we make.

• Human-verified, always. The AI does the heavy lifting. A senior estimator signs off before anything reaches you. We do not ship unreviewed numbers.
• Show the work. Every quantity traces back to a sheet and a line. Every conflict is explained, not just flagged.
• Speed without guessing. Faster only counts if the numbers hold. We would rather surface a question than paper over it.

Where we are going

We are focused on one thing: making preconstruction faster and more reliable for the contractors and trades who live in it. The platform is here today and working on real bids. We are improving the AI, widening trade coverage, and deepening the checks it runs.
